Supper Dances
Each year The Arc hosts three “Adult Supper Dances”, social outings for individuals, ages 17 and above, with intellectual disabilities.
Generally these dances are held from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. the Friday night before Valentine’s Day, Halloween and the first weekend of June. However, exact dates vary so check with The Arc before making plans! Music will be provided by The Arc Starz DJs.
The Supper Dances are usually held at the City of Anniston’s Senior Citizen and Therapeutic Recreation Center, but are also held in other locations such as the local Moose Lodge 1669.
The Ladies of the Moose have hosted the Valentine’s Supper Dance for the past three years. They along with the Anniston Civitan Club, which has sponsored the Summer Supper Dance for about two decades, also supply the meal for the estimated 150 attendees.
Thanks to these and other groups, which donate food items and other supplies, The Arc is able to offer the supper dances free of charge to participants. ( Additional funding is made possible through funding from Sunny King Charity Golf Classic and The United Way of East Central Alabama.)

Therapeutic Recreation
The Arc works closely with the City of Anniston’s Therapeutic Recreation programs to provide activities for adults with I/DD in Calhoun and Cleburne Counties.
The agency supplies a driver to assist the TR program in weekly bowling, “Stepping Out” social nights and “Fun Club” activities. Arc staff also assists at various TR Program functions throughout the year. The Arc co-hosts a one week adult day camp with the Anniston PARD TR program each July.
For more about the TR program, please contact Bernadette M. Burroughs, TR Director, at 256-241-2697.
