Debra joined The Arc’s office staff on September 1, 2015 after working 24 years as the transition specialist and 11 years as a teacher at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind’s Helen Keller School. But Debra is no stranger to many consumers of The Arc’s programs. She spent many summers working at The Arc’s summer day camps for children with disabilities, often as a director of the camps for preschool-aged children or children with multiple disabilities. She also was employed for a summer as Director of The Arc of North Talladega County’s Summer Camp for children with multiple disabilities and served a term on The Arc of Alabama’s Board of Directors. She holds a Master in Special Education from Jacksonville State University and a Certification in Visual Impairment from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
